Gift of Life Program
Rotary Foundation approved a matching grant for $ 67,500.00 for the Heart Operations in New Delhi India under “Gift of Life Program.” Members of the Rotary Club of Hicksville South donated over $12,000.0. Gift of Life is a program addresses the medical needs of children who suffer from congenital heart defects and other similar conditions.
Water Harvesting Program
A donation of $20,000 to provide drinking water facilities in village school at remote area of Karnataka, Indi.
Dialysis Equipment and Training
The club sponsored two global grants of $30,000 each to provide new dialysis equipment and training at St. James Hospital in Chalakudy, India,
Cash Grant to Abhishek Kumar
The club raised $ 1,000.00 to Mr. Abhishek Kumar of Kanpur India. Abhishek Kumar, an 18-year-old brilliant student son of a poor shoemaker and resident of a home without any electric connection at home held the fifth position in merit list of IIT surpassing the day-to-day challenges of life.
Haiti’s Earthquake Relief
The members of the club provided $2,000 to support Earthquake Relief efforts for Haiti.
Child Rights and You America- CRY
Our members participated and our President Mr. Vikas Dahll led the CRY 3K walk organized by CRY to raise donations to help underprivileged children in India. CRY Child Rights & You (CRY), a non-for-profit organization that catalyses change in the lives of underprivileged children in India.
Nassau County Museum of Arts
RCHS gave a donation of $ 1,000.00 to support the museum.
US Marine Corps Reserves: Toys for Tot Program
In April 2012, RCHS & RCJS donated $5,000 to the US Marine Corps Reserves
Toys for Tot program, a program to give smiles to the children.
Ambala Cancer Hospital Project
A joint project of several local and international Rotary clubs for the total grant of the project was $240,000.
Logan Foundation
Donated over 100 gym and outdoor sporting bags to Logan foundation’s summer care program.
Helping People with Disabilities
Donated $600 to Condi Sidiki, a Polio victim himself who is engaged in empowering disabled children.
ROTO-PAAL
Rotary Promoting Awareness & Adult Literacy Program, a volunteer driven adult literacy program started in 2011 with a mission to provide goal oriented life-long learning experience in areas of language skills, computer, interview and personality development & presentation skills to the South Asian community.
Other Activities
The Club extended support to several other organizations. Among these include Sri Chakra International, Burmese Refugee Community of New York, Nassau County Domestic Violence and Child Abuse and Camp-Pa-Qua.
As part of our club’s community education and awareness programs, we invite speakers on diverse subjects from legal issues to benefit community businesses, real estate and mortgage market, estate planning and financial planning matters that benefit the community.
Our Rotarians do enjoy social activities and hosts networking events for the local business community. Our members actually think that it is a great social time before and after every meeting.
